" Ancient tunes and future grooves "

Shkodra Elektronike’s keyboardist/producer Kole Laca and singer Beatrice Gjergji are both based in Milan, but their hearts belong to Shkodre. Their gorgeous north Albanian hometown’s rich Balkan and Mediterranean musical tradition of the past centuries is now carefully incorporated in the contemporary sound of Shkodra Elektronike. Kole Laca was a long-standing member of several Milan bands and frequently collaborated with famous Italian artists like Roy Paci before he stepped back to his Albanian roots. At the very beginning Shkodra Elektronike was just him, working on an instrumental solo performance with some vocal samples, but everything changed when Kole discovered the voice of Beatrice Gjergji.

In 2019, Shkodra Elektronike started playing modern interpretations of the traditional songs of Shkodre, powerful enough to be invited to  perform at the opening of the Albania and Kosovo pavilion at the Venice Biennale. For the first Bandcamp self-release in 2020, the duo recorded their own song ‘Ku e gjeta vedin’ (Where I Found Myself).

Their second release was an electro remake of an old folk tune ‘Synin si  gershia’. Then, a deal with Eastern electronics-oriented record label Alt Orient began with early 2022 single ‘Turtulleshe’, which also included an extended remix by deep house DJ Valeron, from the Greek island of Mykonos. Mesmerizing track ‘Turtulleshe’ is a perfect introduction to 5-track debut EP ‘Live@Uzina’ recorded live on stage in the suburb of Tirana. The Uzina recording session was filmed by Kube Studios, and is now available on the Shkodre Elektronike YouTube channel.
