Echinodorus Kleiner Bar is a quick growing sword plant that is a natural hybrid between E. barthii and E. uruguayensis. Underwater the leaves can develop deep red coloration. Under ideal conditions, this plant will grow to a large size becoming a beautiful centerpiece in the aquarium. The Amazon Sword Echinodorus (Kleiner Bar) live aquatic aquarium plant is a must for fish tank hobbyists.

The Kleiner Bar Sword is a hybrid between Echinodorus barthii and Echinodorus uruguayensis, which gives the adult leaves their red coloration. If the conditions are not ideal, the plant grows more slowly, a bit smaller, and the deep red coloration of the leaves will turn more rust in color. This species is amphibious and will grow either submersed or partially submersed. Requiring little attention after the initial planting, the Kleiner Bar Sword is a great plant for beginners.

The Kleiner Bar Sword requires moderate to high lighting, approximately 3 watts per gallon provided by full spectrum (5000-7000K) bulbs. The temperature of the water should be between 72°-82°F, with an alkalinity of 3-8 dKH and a neutral pH.

The Kleiner Bar Sword propagates by rhizomes or adventitious shoots that grow off of leaves. A prolific plant under most circumstances, the development of a new leaf once a week is not uncommon.

As with other Swordplants, nutrient rich substrate, regular fertilization, and good light will ensure the plant's robust growth. However, Kleiner Bar Sword is highly adaptable and will grow under varied aquarium conditions.

Kleiner Bar Sword should be planted in the background areas of the aquarium. It can be an ideal focal point in the aquarium. Its relatively large size can also be utilized to "hide" various aquarium equipement such as heaters, filter intakes, and pumps.
