Taiwan Moss or Taxiphyllum Alternans is a species of moss that grows in a creeping fashion. This means that the plant grows horizontally rather than vertically. Usually known by the name of Taiwan moss, this bryophyte is the perfect carpeting moss for aquascaping. Unlike many other mosses, this plant is capable of living in tropical waters, as well as colder climates. Taiwan moss? bushy growth makes it a perfect hiding spot for fry and small shrimp. If healthy and well cared for the moss will produce spores on its stems. The spores will then be carried away by water current or small creatures and begin growing new colonies. Although Taiwan moss is fairly easy to take care of, it's important to keep in mind that it will not do well in temperatures too warm. Anything above 86 degrees Fahrenheit and this bryophyte will struggle to sustain productively.
Most common uses:
Taiwan Moss is typically used to wrap aquascaping rocks or aquarium driftwood. The addition of moss to the hardscape adds an aged look that is enjoyed by enthusiasts of all skill levels. Moss is also commonly used in breeding projects and can provide valuable coverage for fry. There are many types of aquarium moss and each species will vary in growth patterns with slightly varying fronds! One of the most loved attributes of aquarium moss is its hardiness. Aquarium moss makes a wonderful beginner plant and is an easy introduction to keeping live aquatic plants.
All of our moss products are grown submerged in water, the bottom of the moss does not see light, therefore the color is brown. Please be mindful that a brown and green mix is normal and should be expected.

The shipment must be received on the first delivery attempt. If you miss the delivery and the package is delayed a day or more because of it, we cannot accept responsibility for any losses. It is your responsibility to check the tracking number for delivery. The shipment must be sent to the correct delivery address on file according to Etsy, do not request shipment to be delivered to another address not listed on your Etsy account.
NOTE: We are not responsible for errors, postal delays, wrong addresses mail holds, or P.O. Box deliveries by the postal carrier. If USPS forwards your shipment in error, we do cover that type of mistake.
All claims must be made and or brought to our attention via Etsy Messages within 24 hours of the package being delivered.
We ship USPS First Class the majority of the time and that takes usually 2-4 days to deliver. Please remember that the delivery date Etsy shows you is just an estimate of arrival and not the real thing. You will get a tracking number it is important you check this tracking number 2-3 times each day to see when the box will arrive at your home. Please make sure you are at home the day of the arrival or arrange for someone to be there to receive the plants and that know how to properly care for the plants. The less time they spend in the box the better.
Shore Aquatic ships Monday & Tuesday in order to avoid the weekend. All orders placed after Monday 12 PM will be shipped the following Monday.
When will items ship?
We reserve the right to hold delivery due to inclement weather.
If you would like to receive your item faster, we recommend purchasing priority mail.
Temperature is very important for the live delivery of plants. Please check the 7-day weather forecast in your location before placing your order. If the temperature in the coming days is too low (below 35F) or too high (above 90F), please do not order.
NOTE: USPS is slower than normal due to holidays and COVID restrictions.
DOA/Damaged Claims:

Livestock:
We guarantee live arrival on all our livestock. In the rare event livestock shows up dead, we must be notified within 2 hours of delivery. Keep in mind these plants just took the journey of their lifetime in a dark box for 2-4 days so they will take time to recover and to be at their best again. Please take clear photos of the dead plant and send them to us within 2 hours of receiving the item and once the item is validated by us, we will send a replacement or refund.
Failure to comply with one or more of these policies will mean we can no longer cover you.
We guarantee live arrival of all livestock. This means we assure that livestock will show up alive. We do not guarantee your success in keeping the livestock alive/healthy. Lots of outside factors that we cannot control go into the success or failure of keeping livestock healthy. We are here to help but are not liable after you have received the livestock alive.
Do your plants have snails?
We try not to have snails/pests, but it happens, we remove any visible imperfections before shipment however to be 100% certain we suggest that you either do a 1:20 ratio bleach to water dip and/or wash the plants. Anytime you add something new to an aquarium it is important to rinse it off before adding just to be safe.
