Who is the Amazon Sword Plant?
This pretty plant has large bright green leaves. It is undemanding and develops quickly by producing new leaves regularly.
You will need to provide an important aquarium for this plant because it takes a lot of space both at the root level than at the leaf level. An aquarium of at least 180 liters or 47 US Gal or 40 Imp Gal is recommended.
Echinodorus Bleheri is often used as a nesting place for American cichlids.
Advantage: the fish with the reputation of nibbling the plants will hardly touch it because its leaves are too hard. Only yellowed leaves may be eaten by some fish such as Ancistrus.
Planting and maintenance
Planting and maintenance
How to plant and maintain the Amazon Sword Plant?
Echinodorus Bleheri draws most of its diet from the roots. As a result, it is important to provide a nutrient-rich substrate for growth. Moreover, it is advisable to be vigilant on this point because this plant will make long roots. It will be necessary to install it at a good distance from other plants to avoid that they are deprived of nutrients.
On the other hand, it is not very demanding concerning lighting. It can be content with little light or with much. You can still rely on optimal lighting power between 1 watt for 3 liters (0.8 US Gal or 0.65 Imp Gal) to 1 watt for 1 liter (0.26 US Gal or 0.22 Imp Gal).
Weekly water changes will help your plant flourish.
Do not hesitate to cut yellow leaves, holes, or filled with seaweed and leave only the beautiful leaves. Do not worry, the plant will produce new leaves quickly. Attention, it can reach a very beautiful size and its leaves are quite large. As a result, it could overshadow other plants. Avoid this by controlling its development: remove excess or awkward leaves.
This plant does not require a supply of Co2.

How to farm the Amazon Sword Plant?
To multiply it, it’s really easy. Collect one of the many seedlings on its roots. Be careful to choose a seedling with at least 3/4 leaves. Plant it a little further. You’re done!
In addition, do not hesitate to cut the seedlings from time to time on the main root even if you do not replant them. Indeed, they can be harmful for the mother foot.
