This is an unboxing review. Additional comments will follow after use if the site allows it. The handle fills my medium/large glove sized hands and is very comfortable and secure. The wood handle is surprisingly grippy when dry. I have no experience yet with wet or oily hands. The balance is a little handle heavy, balancing at the second finger. The blade is a flat grind with a micro bevel and it is on the sharper side of mass-produced blades I have purchased . The grind is equal and well executed. The tip is fairly well pointed. Light but numerous grind marks cover the blade perpendicular to the edge, giving a satin finished appearance. There are no deep grind marks, scratches or gouges. There is gimping on the spine just above the bolster. It is very comfortable but affords a good grip. It is not overly aggressive - ymmv. The spine is 90 degrees but not so sharp as to be uncomfortable with moderate pressure. The sheath is of what appears to be good quality leather with double stitching and has a good welt. It has a dual carry design with a high vertical carry in the right handed configuration and straps, which are removable for scout carry, limited to lefties due to the overlapping snap closure. This is too bad as I would have loved to scout carry this tool; it is the right size. The wrap securing the handle is of perfect length, with no play yet not overly tight or difficult to fasten. The button snap is of good quality and hold well but isn’t difficult to secure or open. Mine came with a nice lanyard. You may wish to replace it with paracord. The fit and finish is very nice, as nice as I’ve seen on a production knife, maybe with the exception of the machine striatum seems on the blade. There are no proud spots on the handle. It is heavy enough to feel solid in hand but not so much that I’d think it would tire you quickly. It is definitely not a light weight knife. It has a drop point, so I’d imagine it would be decent for hunting. I think its use for some basic bushcraft and as an all-around knife would be its best purpose. I look forward to putting it through the paces with some woodwork and lend it to an experienced hunter to do some work on game. So far I’m very pleased with it, especially with its decent steel at a great price for being made in Europe. More to follow.Read full review
