The historic Tudor House in Lake Arrowhead is back in action.

Originally a Roaring ‘20s casino and speakeasy built in 1928 by mobster Bugsy Siegel, the sprawling mansion retreat is now a dining and entertainment venue — part supper club, part dinner theater, part concert hall.

The restored 23,000-square-foot complex now includes a 10,000 square-foot dining-entertainment area and an updated kitchen, which is the domain of acclaimed Southern California chefs Cliff Larson and Tina Love. Sunday brunch, dinner, and late-night fare are offered.

“It’s so exciting to have the renovation completed,” said Marcie Lawless, Tudor House caretaker, who oversees the day-to-day operations of the venue with her husband, resident pianist Steve Lawless. “It’s so beautiful now.”

Just in time for the holiday season, a nightly fire now crackles in the Main Hall fireplace. A production of the Charles Dickens holiday classic “A Christmas Carol” will be presented Dec. 5-22 and a Renaissance-themed “Madrigal Dinner” is scheduled for Dec. 27-28.

Alan Johnson and Glenda Moore are general contractors on the project. John Connor and Peggy Butler are the owners of the property.

“John Connor had the vision to carry this renovation project forward as a theater arts venue and it’s been so much fun,” Lawless said.

Plans for the Tudor House include making it available for weddings, anniversaries, meetings, parties, workshops, and eventually a cultural center, Lawless said.

“It’s a wonderful project,” Moore added. “We have so much joy just being here. The lore of the place is so interesting. We live, breathe, think, talk this building.”

Lake Arrowhead Repertory Theatre Company, under the umbrella of Tudor House Productions, is producer of the upcoming shows.

In addition to the holiday productions in December and other upcoming shows, the Tudor House entertainment calendar also includes Sunday Brunch with live music each week, frequent “Sing-Alongs with Steve” featuring Steve Lawless on Sunday evenings, and a late-night menu and live entertainment from 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights.

The Tudor House is at 800 Arrowhead Villa Road in the Arrowhead Villas community off Hwy. 18 east of the turnoff for Lake Arrowhead Village. Call 909-336-5000 or visit tudorhouseproductions.com.
