Hunter's Billhook Knife
The Roncola del Cacciatore knife, originally from Pistoia, is a knife of particular value and rarity and unique of its kind. It stands out not only for its distinctive shape and the fact that it offers a variety of functions representative of its original purpose, but above all for the meticulous care with which the various tools that make it up have been patiently crafted by hand, in every single detail: a smaller knife blade, a screwdriver, a touch hole cleaning pin, a percussion cap pin made from an extension to the lower end of the spring and a helical drill, which, similar to the tool in the stock of a bersagliere's rifle, was used to bore into tree wood, thus transforming the curved handle into an excellent stabiliser for aiming the gun. The general shape is that of a pruning knife, characterised by a blade that bends forward sharply, forming a long and pointed 'beak'. This shape enhances the characteristics of the tool and makes for a more efficient action of the percussion cap pin. An exclusive feature is the number of tools mounted on the same blade pivot: usually there are only two, either located outside the handle or housed in special recesses, whereas in this case both methods have been adopted and so there are no less than four tools. It is dedicated exclusively to the most discerning enthusiasts, those who, knowing how to admire every smallest detail, wish to own a truly unique item of great value.
