Lysimachia nummularia ‘Aurea’ (Creeping Jenny, Moneywort)

If you are looking to brighten up a shady area of your garden, then Lysimachia nummularia ‘Aurea’ is the one for you. It has shiny 1 inch, chartreuse-yellow leaves that grow along stems that spread 2 feet or more. This hardy perennial is a fast growing groundcover, creating a low, dense mat that hugs the ground and quickly fills in bare areas of the garden. It is also suitable in hanging baskets and window boxes. Its trailing growth habit makes it a great choice as the “spiller” component of a mixed container garden.

‘Aurea’ performs best in evenly moist, hummus-rich soil. It spreads by rhizomes and if allowed, can overtake neighboring plants. Give an occasional trim to keep it under control. Plant in shade to part sun along the coast and shade inland. The Sunset Climate Zones are 1-9, 14-24. We are currently growing Lysimachia nummularia ‘Aurea’ in one gallon containers. Visit our website www.cleawatercolor.com to see photos of these and many more plants we are growing.
