Maximum Size: 16cm.

Temperature Range: 18-23°C.

Comments:

Andinoacara pulcher males have an ornate dorsal fin with an orange edge. They are difficult to sex at a young age, however, the male's anal fin is wider than female's.

Though omnivorous, they prefer a meatier diet of live food such as small fish, snails and earthworms, but will do well on a quality flake or pellet diet in the aquarium.

Generally, the Blue Acara is easy to breed, the female lays up to 200 eggs which hatch in 2-3 days. If attempting to spawn Andinoacara pulcher, a single pair of fish with their own tank is recommended as the parents become very aggressive when breeding.
