Overview: A beautiful cultivar of Microsorum Pteropus, ‘Trident Fern,’ is known for its distinct leaf morphology. The characteristic feature of Java Fern is that it is easy to grow and maintain; at the same time, it has striking appearance- everything that makes the plant best for beginners and expert aquarists. It is native to Southeast Asia. 

Appearance: As the name indicates, the plant features three distinct lobes at the tip, giving it a typical trident appearance. It is what makes the Microsorum Pteropus Trident Fern one of a kind and visually appealing. The intricate appearance of the leaves not only makes the plant look different from others but also adds depth and texture to any ordinary aquascape. Talking about size and growth pattern, it is the same as any other variant of Java Fern. 

Hard/Soft Plant: Microsorum pteropus Trident Fern is a hardy and robust plant. It can thrive in wide range of water parameters. Likewise, it can adapt to different aquarium conditions. 

Ideal Water Temperature: The temperature range for Microsorum pteropus Trident Fern is 20 to 28 degrees Celsius. Even though it can withstand fluctuation in temperature, maintaining stable temperature will ensure optimal growth and good health.  

Lighting Conditions: Low to moderate light conditions is preferred by Trident Fern.  It can thrive under relatively low light conditions, but providing moderate to bright lighting will promote healthier growth and more vibrant foliage.

Ideal pH Level: pH should be between 6 to 7.5 to create suitable environment for optimal growth and development. 

Other Requirements: Adding décor items will give more surface for Trident Fern to attach and create stunning aquascape. Regarding nutrients, Trident Fern is known for its relatively low nutrient requirements compared to many other aquatic plants. Providing a nutrient-rich substrate or supplementing the water with liquid fertilizers can help ensure that the plant has access to the nutrients it needs for healthy growth.

Propagation: Trident Fern propagates through adventitious plantlets that develop on mature leaves or along the rhizome. Detach the plantlets from the rhizome and reattach it to a new surface or substrate. Over time, the plantlet will establish themselves and grow into mature plant.
