The Synodontis decorus is native to Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo can be found anywhere in the Congo basin.

The unusual trait of this Synodontis is the long extension of the dorsal fin which can reach as far back as its caudal fin and along with its attractive body coloration makes it one of the most popular catfish of the genus, Synodontis. Mostly white with black spots. Its ventral region is white. Dorsal, caudal, anal and ventral fins are white with black transverse bands. As the fish gets bigger the tail is very attractive.

This fish is compatible with most fish when small as it grows it can hold its own with large cichlids fish, but best kept away from fin nippers which might get tempted to pick at the dorsal fin filament.

Not a picky eater will accept most foods and only requires a few places to hide in the aquarium.
