Underrated
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's not generally regarded as one of director Martin Scorsese's best, but this film holds up remarkably well after 30 years. Robert DeNiro plays Rupert Pupkin, whose dreams of fame as a comedian lead him to kidnap talk-show host Jerry Langford (a terrific performance from Jerry Lewis). In this "instant gratification-quest for fame" culture we live in today, the film has just as, if not more, relevance today than it did when it was released.

Under rated classic!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw this film in film class when I was 18. It really sucked me into the story. Robert DeNiro's performance is mesmerizing and kinda scary to think about at the same time. Always been a big fan of Jerry Lewis and had the honor of knowing him for a week of my life. Even got to talk to him about this and many more of his films and his friendships with some of the older stars of his time. This film and Last Temptation of Christ I think are 2 of Scorsese's most under rated films.

A Dark Laugher
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This early Scorsese movie is not one to be missed. It combines drama, satire, and dark humor in a very entertaining package, If you liked Deniro in Taxi Driver, this movie gives you another unsettling performance, no less dark, though done so with a lighter touch to a degree. A classic!

A well-overdue re-release
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I already had the DVD version of this, but that disc doesn't offer much in the way of extras. The blu-ray edition looks and sounds exceptional, and the menu layout is much-improved over the DVD version. There is also a retrospective that was not on the DVD version. I highly recommend this disc.

Classic!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With the passing of Jerry Lewis, I knew I had to have this forgotten classic of the early 80's. A dark comedy that seems more relevant now than ever before. With the dawn of social media, everyone's s 'Star', but it wasn't always that easy. Disturbing, sad and funny as heck. Robert, Martin and Jerry at their best.

Dark, warped comedy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.KING OF COMEDY is a dark and painfully funny look a psychopath (Robert De Niro) obsessed with a TV talk show host played totally straight by Jerry Lewis. Tension builds and builds as Martin Scorsese gives us a lighter more bizarre take on a Travis Bickle type character. Finally on blu-ray, it's budget priced to sell!

Great
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very scary in an understated and fantastic performance by De Niro. Maybe Jerry Lewis's best film performance: certainly his best in a serious role. Fantastic script.

Okay Blu-ray of a Great Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The King of Comedy is one of Martin Scorsese's most underrated pictures; it's smart, funny, and eerily prescient about today's media culture. This Blu-ray doesn't quite match its excellence, though the AV/PQ is good.
