Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina
The journey from Palm Jumeirah to Dubai Marina takes just 10 minutes in a private vehicle and should be done because it is a jaw-dropping journey, for its particular exclusivity and luxury, the traveler who ventures into this unique territory.
Palm Jumeirah is an artificial island that juts into the Persian Gulf and is shaped like a palm tree with a trunk two kilometers long and a crescent-shaped jetty 11 kilometers long. Between the 17 “branches” of the palm tree, the waters are calmer and that facilitates the practice of kayaking and paddleboarding. Dubai Marina is one of the largest man-made marinas in the world, located between magnificent skyscrapers and a 3-kilometer canal.
Both Palma Jumeirah and Dubai Marina are such exclusive residential areas that it is difficult for the average citizen to afford a small apartment here. What can the traveler do in these areas of Dubai during a tourist getaway? Well, walk along the Palm Jumeirah promenade, which comes to life at sunset; stroll along the marina; go to The Walk at JBR, a nearly 2-kilometer strip of stores and restaurants; go shopping at The Beach at JBR, an open-air mall located in front of a sandy beach; or climb the world’s largest Ferris wheel-viewpoint.
Palm Jumeirah, built between 2001 and 2008, is the smallest of the three artificial islands that make up Palm Islands and one of the largest created by humans. At about 6 square kilometers, Palm Jumeirah is visible in its entirety only from the air or from the observation decks of the Burj Khalifa. Almost everyone knows that the great icon of Palm Jumeirah is the famous Atlantis hotel, a very luxurious establishment with a huge Arabian arch in the center that gives the impression of being a big hole. And another Palm Jumeirah attraction is the Aquaventure, a water park that is accessible via the Dubai Monorail.
For its part, Dubai Marina is a district built around an artificial canal, along which you can stroll while contemplating the most avant-garde buildings ever dreamed of, as well as luxury restaurants, yachts and impressive leisure and entertainment establishments. From Palm Jumeirah you can also reach Dubai Marina on the panoramic monorail that runs along the trunk of the palm tree along its entire length and will take you to Dubai Media City, where you can take the streetcar to Dubai Marina.
