This wild pair has been with me for a while.
They are pretty docile compared to some of their dwarf counterpart.

    Some pictures of the pair

    Should be a male

Very nice pair. I had another Laetacara some time ago. They spawned but none of the fry made it. Most of the eggs fungused.

Read that it is not easy to raise the young.

A closer look at the pair

Getting them to hatch is the hard part. Sometimes the whole batch of eggs just fungus. Raising the fry is fairly straightforward. Mix of live foods will be best and small but regular water changes will be the best way.

I still remember the ones that you kept. You even made a few videos of them. One of the videos even showed the tiny wrigglers. Very inspiring.

They are cichlids with personality and the color changes between neutral and brooding is spectacular. Gives any apisto a run for their money.

Yeap. They are a lot like chameleons. The colors vary according to their mood. Problem is the pairing. You need to buy a few fishes to get a matching pair, just like what you did.

    My pair of dorsigera bred.

The eggs were laid on the 11 Nov, just before I left on a holiday.

Came home yesterday and the frys are already free swimming.

Congratulations Nick. Hope to see the fry when they're larger. My pair of Laetacara that spawned were not successful. Fertility was a big problem.
