This floating plant is characterised by its distinctive aerial roots and
strong root network, which provide a good hiding-place for young fish. It can be
planted in the bottom, but will immediately grow towards the light and the
surface. Ludwigia helminthorrhiza demands a lot of light, and when light
is very good the leaves are rounder and the colour reddish. A very decorative
plant in open aquariums, and also suitable for garden ponds in the summer.
