"Holding onto the life raft / Prolonging my epitaph / Well play me a requiem / Or something from Louisville"
It is always a total surprise what will come over my electronic desk, the genres are many as are the sonic touchstones. The scowling, artful meets gleefully harsh punk punch of "Holding On" by Bristol UK underground alt rock outfit Silver Halide, pushed my head around like a smoky mosh pit in a dark dank cinder block venue somewhere back in 1985. Yeah, this bands sound might strike you in other ways and so often it has to do with one's age, ones musical situational awareness but I am feeling a glorious nostalgic tone and attitude here. I am thinking of 1985 alright, of Dramarama's "Cinéma Vérité" album, of the Buzzcocks, Stiff Little Fingers and Pixies (of course) and oddly or not, Midnight Oil.
