Instinct seems to be in good supply and is made in the US using plastic and foil containers. I was in a bit of trouble with my 3 cats who only eat Royal Canin (also named Instinctive). Since the minced pieces look similar to Royal Canin I tried this food. I did not mix, I placed equal portions of Instinct and Royal Canin side by side in the cat bowls and all 3 cats went for the new Instinct food, but also finish up Royal Canin. Thank goodness since Royal Canin has been sold out for the last 4 months. Unfortunately, Instinct costs a little bit more but also contains .5 ounces more so pretty much the same per ounce. The cats just get more food. Will have to try the other flavors to give some variety to their diet and have other options for the next shortage. And to all those scalpers who are trying to sell Royal Canin at 4-6x normal price, I hope my cats get to poop in your shoes one day.

So my cat scratches her head raw and mows her fur off due to itchiness. Vet said to try an "alternative protein food," so I did. This one is rabbit (I know, I know, I feel bad about it ... but the others are even more expensive!) She improved from eating only this, but doesn't love the flavor as much as her old, cheap food. This kind is like little bits in gravy. The price is the big drawback. It is a good product though and maybe I can get her off allergy shots with this. If you want to try rabbit for alternative protein, expensive as this is, it is one of the cheaper ones.

I have been feeding this to my cat for over a year. She has miliary disease and I thought perhaps this would help her in case she has a food allergy. I hope they continue to make and stock this. Rabbit seems like a more natural better food for her. Beware as others have noted, they can have extremely stinky poop from this so be prepared. This is an annoyance but not a deal breaker for me, as the box is by an outside door and easily scooped and removed. I consider her health as the most important thing.

TomCat was founded abandon in a coyote occupied park. I don’t know how long he was there with just a pet carrier and no food or water near by. He was weak and skin and bones. I fed him Friskies wet food, but he then was diagnose with hyperthyroidism. So I had to limit his iodine intake. In my quest to research cat food with low iodine Instinct was one of the foods recommended as having low iodine. TomCat isn’t a fan of Patel. But he loves their morsels. With his medication and Instinct original grain free morsels his last thyroid check were back to normal.

I ordered this figuring it was the same formula as the instinct rabbit wet food (metal can). The price was much cheaper for a good bit more quantity of food. Figured no harm, no foul.
Our cat seemed to love it at first, but each day he seemed to eat less and less to almost not even touching it after a sniff. Flash to now, he’s been lethargic, constipated and constantly throwing up after eating (even threw up in our bed which HE NEVER HAS DONE).
Today, after looking at reviews and cross analyzing ingredients it is not the same. We fed him tonight with this stuff and immediately threw up. We start worrying (per reviews) that the food was off or spoiled. So we just came home with the original cans we got him, and he ate like he hasn’t ate in days…..
lets hope he will poop tonight, and or not throw up in the bed tonight.

I'll start off by saying that I've been feeding my girls Instinct for a few years and they've always been a fan. They've had the canned version & the toppers but never the cups. I decided to mix things up abit and try these. I'm not sure what's different (if anything), but they seem to like this WAY more than the other versions. Maybe it's the texture. I get all the flavors so they have a variety.

I will mention one thing though. What's in the cups looks very different from what's pictured. At first I thought maybe it had gone bad or something. In the picture it looks like finely chopped up bits. In the cups, it's basically just "mush" (picture attached to review). But, the girls go wild for it, so I don't worry about it. Just thought I'd mention that.
