great for sedans without roof racks

The Autogen roof cargo carrier is a welcomed addition to my camping gear. I go camping often with large groups. This carrier has made it easier for me to pack my when going to and from trips. The additional cargo has helped with organization on trips and made the trip itself more convenient. More times than not there's some over packing being done, whether it be just-in-case or emergency items, it helps recognizing these items and keeping them to the side to not have to move them back and forth when on the trip. Being from the city, i prefer to keep my sedan and don't have the need for a truck with a roof rack and hard case. This roof rack allows me to use my sedan without roof racks, giving me the extra storage without the extra expenses other than the carrier itself. The weatherproof is good for traveling during raining conditions and even keeping things stored when finally there. Being that it's not a hard case when i'm done with it fro the weekend i can fold it down and put it in its carrying bag and store in the trunk until its next use. its bulkier when folded up than i thought it would be. The other ones im comparing too werent weather resistant, so the material wasn't as thick. Takes a little more trunk space, but if i need the trunk space i can set it up and have way more space than what it was taking up.

I wanted some extra storage space for my car and this was perfect. I have a Chevy Malibu so there isn't much room for storage. This cargo carrier makes it so much easier for me to transport anything too big for my car. I was actually pretty impressed with the quality of the material as it seems quite durable. I even used this in the rain and it kept everything inside completely dry so it is indeed waterproof. Not to mention that it even comes with a carrying case which surprised me. It folds up pretty small too as you can see in the picture which makes storage very easy for this product. I purchased the 21 cubic feet version and it fit easily on my car which I was quite happy about. Overall I think this was a very good purchase for the money and I'd recommend anyone looking for more storage in their car to try this product out.

I used this roof bag to get my family up the mountain for a camping trip. We put it on my Audi A3 hatchback. My car has no roof rack and installation was fairly easy. We put 2 sleeping bags, 2 duffel bags. a medium sized cooler, and some camp chairs in it. We had way more room than we needed. The bag was saggy. We didn't hit any rain on our way there or back, so I can't speak to it's waterproofness as of this time.

On our way there, we had to get into one of the duffel bags, and accessing it was not a problem. Just unclip the side straps, unzip down the side, and we were in. Reverse the process and we were ready to go again. We could hear the bag ruffling in the wind from inside the car. I'd imagine that the fuller the bag is, the less you would get that. We arrived and were able to undo and empty the bag pretty easily. With the straps all cinched tight, it didn't seem to move or slide back at highway speeds.

The only drawback that I found was leaving the empty bag on the car and driving highway speeds certainly increased the ruffling noise. I think removing the empty bag would be ideal if it's not being used in between trips. I can see how a hard shell roof bin would be more convenient, both in accessing your stuff and leaving it on your car empty, but I'm sure they are more expensive. Also, The weight on the roof is minimally distributed between the floor of the bag and the anti-slip mat. A heavy item such as a loaded cooler with wheels might cause dents in the roof of your car, or in my case, possibly shatter the sunroof, so that should be kept in mind.

Overall, this roof bag seems to be a workable solution to getting your stuff that won't fit in the car to your destination safely and dry. A less expensive option than a rigid bin, but there are tradeoffs.
