Features

Nymphaea mexicana is aquatic rhizomatous perennial herb, sometimes with stolons, as well. The leaves grow from the rhizome on long petioles. Most of them float on the surface of the water. Flowers are floating or emersed, 6-11 cm in diameter, opening and closing diurnally, only sepals and outermost petals in distinct whorls of 4.

Uses

Naturalize in moist soils in shaded areas of native plant gardens, shade gardens, woodland gardens or wild/naturalized areas. Also grows well in pond or stream banks or in shady areas of rock gardens.
