HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- Singer Taylor Hicks of Birmingham, the 2006 "American Idol" who lived here for a summer while growing up, might be performing at this year's Panoply of the Arts Festival in Big Spring International Park.

The news was released on Hicks' website, taylorhicks.com. The announcement was removed from Hicks' website shortly after The Times reported the performance.

Hicks' website indicated he would be performing on April 29, a Sunday night.

Hicks was scheduled to perform during last year's Panoply, but the April 27 tornadoes canceled the festival and Hicks' performance.

Allison Dillon-Jauken, Executive Director of The Arts Council, which produces Panoply, said today, "The Arts Council is still working to finalize the performer line-up for the Panoply Arts Festival. We expect festivalgoers to enjoy special guest performances during the weekend, but Panoply is first and foremost a celebration of Huntsville/Madison County's vibrant and diverse arts community."
