New and Interesting Fungi. 32020 •
Seven new genera, 26 new species, 10 new combinations, two epitypes, one new name, and 20 interesting new host and / or geographical records are introduced in this study. New genera are: Italiofungus (based on Italiofungus phillyreae) on leaves of Phillyrea latifolia (Italy); Neolamproconium (based on Neolamproconium silvestre) on branch of Tilia sp. (Ukraine); Neosorocybe (based on Neosorocybe pini) on trunk of Pinus sylvestris (Ukraine); Nothoseptoria (based on Nothoseptoria caraganae) on leaves of Caragana arborescens (Russia); Pruniphilomyces (based on Pruniphilomyces circumscissus) on Prunus cerasus (Russia); Vesiculozygosporium (based on Vesiculozygosporium echinosporum) on leaves of Muntingia calabura (Malaysia); Longiseptatispora (based on Longiseptatispora curvata) on leaves of Lonicera tatarica (Russia). New species are: Barrmaelia serenoae on leaf of Serenoa repens (USA); Chaetopsina gautengina on leaves of unidentified grass (South Africa); Chloridium pini on fallen trun...

Microsorum zippelii (Bl.) Ching (Polypodiaceae), a new distributional record for Peninsular India2013 •
Microsorum zippelii (Bl.) Ching, earlier known from north east of India is recorded for the first time from Peninsular India. The species is collected from Mahendragiri hills of Gajapati district, in the Eastern Ghats of Odisha. On critical examination it was found to be Microsorum zipelii a Near Threatened (NT) fern, is differing morphologically from its closely ally M. membranaceum having sori larger, round, distinct and fewer. A detailed description, photograph, illustration along with Scanning Electron Microscopic views of its sorus, sporangium and spores are provided for easy identification of the taxon.

Alternaria arborescens and Alternaria angustiovoidea, two new additions to soil fungi of EgyptIn the current study, eight new recorded isolates related to the genus Alternaria, section Alternata were isolated from soil, sorghum, and wheat grains in Assiut Governorate, Egypt. In addition to DNA sequence analysis, morphological characteristics revealed their identity as Alternaria arborescens (2 isolates) and A. angustiovoidea (6 isolates). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first record of these species in Egypt. The two genetically identified strains of both species were deposited in the culture collection of Assiut University Mycological Centre with accession numbers of A. arborescens AUMC 14106 and A. angustiovoidea AUMC 14107. Sequences of the two strains' internal transcribed spacer (ITS) gene were uploaded to Gen Bank with accession numbers A. arborescens MN240306 and A. angustiovoidea MN242398. Alternaria alternata strain VLH1: a potential entomopathogenic fungus native to North Western Indian HimalayasBackground The inadvertent observation of a substantial population reduction of greenhouse whiteflies infecting Salvia divinorum plants grown in a polyhouse sparked a flurry of inquiries on the cause of the population decline. The entomopathogenic fungus (EPF) (Alternaria alternata strain VLH1) infecting greenhouse whitefly on S. divinorum plants was isolated and morphologically and molecularly characterised using multilocus sequence typing. Results The fungus was found to be highly virulent against sucking pests; with LC50 values ranging from 1.7 × 104 to 2.5 × 106 spores per ml for the Mustard aphid (Lipaphis erysimi Kaltenbach) and soybean sucking bug (Chauliops choprai Sweet and Schaeffer), respectively. In the lepidopteran larvae treated with a concentration of 3 × 105 spores per ml, the fungus induced developmental abnormalities such as aberrant larval to pupal moulting, defective pupae, and deformed adults. Pathogenicity studies on the two beneficial insects (Coccinella septe...

TWO NEW FUNGAL SPECIES FROM VIDARBHA (INDIA)1988 •
This paper deals with two new fungal species from Vidarbha, India, collected on different hosts, i.e. Eupropolella on Tectona grandis L. and Helicosporium on Pongamea glabra Vent. Jard. Malm. E. indica sp. nov. differred from E. britannica in the size of apothecium, ascus and ascospores. H. melghatianum sp. nov. is distinct from the reported species viz, H. vegetum, H. panacheum, H. elinorae, H. linder, H. guianensis and H. abuense in morphological character and hence treated as new species Key words : Apothecia, Unitunicate asci, uniseriate spores, helicoid conidia Citation: Dharkar N, Subhedar A, Hande1 D and Shahezad MA. 2010.
