    • Description

Commonly known also as ‘Baby’s Tears’ for its oval, tear-drop like leaves, Lindernia rotundifolia is a prolific, fast-growing plant native to East Asia. Specimens will grow vertically and quickly. Although hobbyists may clip and replant cuttings in order to propagate, L. rotundifolia will self-propagate in the aquarium by sending out runners resulting in the development of lush clumps from a few original plants. We recommend regular pruning as Lindernia rotundifolia grows faster than many of it's tank-mates.

      L. rotundifolia is an undemanding aquarium plant that is appropriate for beginners. It tolerates low-light conditions well, and neither CO2 supplementation or water column fertilization are necessary though they will result in extremely rapid and dense growth.

The variety we carry resembles Bacopa australis in coloration and growth habit and the two are frequently confused. It is a solid green plant similarly to other Bacopa species. It develops a rich forest green in the aquarium. It is smaller and bushier than Bacopa monieri while being as easy or easier to care for. It is an encouraging plant for the beginner or a unique choice for the expert.

It is also a plant that is well suited to emersed growth in paludariums and Wabi Kusa where it will adapt quickly and possibly produce flowers.
