The Schackgalerie in munich contains the Sammlung Schack, the art collection of Count Adolf Friedrich von Schack. Von Schack was a patron who at the time supported the Munich art world. The building that houses the museum was originally designed by Adolf von Hildebrand. The collection mainly contains works from the Romantic period, including works by artists such as Arnold Böcklin, Moritz von Schwind, Franz von Lenbach, Carl Spitzweg, Carl Rottmann, Anselm Feuerbach and works by German landscape and history painters. The collection illustrates the love of art of a private collector in the 19th century.
