Swedish crime drama Bäckström has been renewed for a second series.

The series, which premiered in Sweden on TV4/C More last spring (and has since been picked up by Acorn TV for UK broadcast) will once again see Kjell Bergqvist play the titular character, based on the books by Leif GW Persson.

TV4 says: “Kjell Bergqvist’s interpretation of Leif GW’s Bäckström was a smash hit on TV4 and C More. Therefore, it feels extra exciting to be able to continue with a sequel. This time the case has a connection to a macabre music box, which seems to have a curse, so the new season breathes a little more mystery, but Bäckström is still an asshole with a big good heart and a lot of humor.”
