Fun Drawing with Optical Illusion
When I researched the art project for my son’s art class, one art term caught my eye. It was “Op Art.” What is that? I was looking at the website of Tate Britain (art museum) in London. They explain like below.
Op art is short for ‘optical art’. The word optical is used to describe things that relate to how we see. Have you seen an optical Illusion before? Op art works in a similar way. (by Tate.org.uk)
Now I know! I wanted to try the op-art project with my son for his art class and found one cool drawing project on Youtube.
What We Used
- Tutorial from the Youtube video “Easy Op Art Drawing”
- Black marker
- Drawing paper
- Color pencils
How We Did
It was a lot of drawings! My son was very excited as the line drawing went. He was in second grade back then, and he couldn’t finish the all shades coloring. He needed a lot of patience to finish these lines. Unfortunately, he couldn’t finish coloring them all, but he was so amazed you could see the depth in his drawing already. In my opinion, he might enjoy this project more if he was a little older (Maybe for grades 3-5?)
Overall, we learned new art techniques and had fun!
