Christie Brinkley is keeping blond hair at 69 despite ‘pressure’ to ‘go gray’

This blonde knows what works for her.

Christie Brinkley looks just as sunny at 69 as she did during her modeling heydey, and the star recently spoke out about her iconic hair to People — and the decision to keep coloring it despite briefly rocking gray roots.

Brinkley, who serves as an ambassador for Pet Life Unlimited, chatted with the mag as she attended a senior dog adoption event last week, discussing how she dyed her hair back to blond after toying with a natural look in March.

“If you don’t go gray, some people really make a big deal about it,” she said.

The supermodel pointed out the double standard that exists when it comes to hair coloring, saying that people will make remarks such as, “‘Oh, that’s so disappointing. She’s not owning it. She’s trying to do something other than who she is.'”

Brinkley stood firm on her stance, saying, “it’s like, no. I believe firmly that if there’s something bothering you, take care of it.”

Ultimately, the star said, “I think the important thing is to do what works best for you. People will put pressure on you in every direction.”

While the Bellissima Wine entrepreneur shared some Instagram photos of her gray roots earlier this year, she also said she was on the fence about her look.

“The second you see gray hair it raises the question , just like when you cut bangs ..to keep or not to keep?” she wrote at the time, adding, “Thank goodness both are just a personal preference or a fun change of pace.”

Brinkley said “the verdict is still out” as to whether she’d dye it back, but obviously, she decided blond worked best for her.

Along with her famous hair, the model told People she was optimistic about turning 70 next February.

“I feel like the number doesn’t match my spirit, so I may as well just keep spiriting on,” she said.

Brinkley also said she felt “the same way” that she did when she “was approaching 30,” adding, “I feel good. I feel strong.”
