The President of the Gambia Football Federation Lamin Kabba Bajo has fulfilled on behalf of the GFF Executive Committee payment of match bonuses amounting to One Hundred and Fifty Seven Thousand Dalasi ( D157,000:00) to the National Women’s Scorpions at a brief ceremony held at the Football House in Kanifing.

Mr Bajo congratulated the girls once again for the victory and eventual qualification to the second round of the AWCON Qualifiers. ‘ I also want to thank the technical team and all the support staff for making us proud’. Mr Bajo said the GFF is very proud of the girls for the historic win they have manifested for the country. ‘ We will continue to give you all the support and will go extra mile to making sure that all the necessary logistics are accomplished for you’. The GFF Boss advised the girls to keep focus, maintain seriousness and adhere to the rules and regulations governing the qualifiers/tournament. ‘ The preparation for the next game starts from today and we will see the possibilities of securing a test game for you before the second round’.

GFF ExCO Member Alagi Faye also congratulated the girls for a record breaking victory in the history of women’s football. ‘ We are very proud of you and be assured that the GFF will support you all the way because you do not disappoint us’.

Other speakers at the ceremony include GFF Deputy General Secretary Abdou Salaam Jammeh, Technical Director Sang Ndong, U-20 Head Coach Mattar Mboge who all felicitated the girls for their spirited fight and record breaking victory last week. Team Captain Penda Bah gave the vote of thanks. She thanked the GFF for yet again fulfilling their promise and said ‘ we are really appreciative of your love, support and caring  for us’.

The event was also attended by WAFU Secretary General Jammeh EK Bojang.

The Gambia advanced to the next and second round of the AWCON Qualifiers by edging out Burkina Faso 5-3 on penalties after a 2-1 ( 3-3 aggregate) scoreline at full time and are now schedule to take on the Super Falcons of Nigeria on June 4th.
