There's Cheating Drama With the Swedish Royals and They Dropped a Public Statement About "Mean" Rumors

Time to briefly turn our attention to the Swedish royal family, people who you never think about and barely know due to the British royals hogging all the drama. Apparently there's been speculation that Prince Daniel and Crown Princess Victoria's marriage has hit a rough patch thanks to cheating—and the noise has grown so loud that Daniel put out a rare public statement denying the rumors and calling them "mean."

Per The Times, last year a local celebrity news outlet called "Stoppa Pressarna" published allegations of tension in Daniel and Victoria's marriage, saying an "incredible betrayal" had occurred in the marriage. The royal household initially denied the "extensive negative rumours," saying “We wish to make it clear, once and for all, that the rumours that are now spreading are completely baseless.”

Cut to now, Daniel gave an interview with Sweden's national public broadcaster SVT, saying “Many friends from across Sweden and overseas have got in touch and things arrived at a certain point where we felt we could no longer accept it. I don’t think there is any reasonable person who believes in this rumour.” He also said that the “mean, false rumours” had “serious consequences” for his family.

Meanwhile, Stoppa Pressarna reporter Daniel Nyhlen said, per The Times, “We had very credible informants, including special police guards and other staff close to the couple. I really had no qualms about it. This is about Sweden’s constitution.”

Welp, this has been an update on Sweden.
