Mysis Stage
mysis In the mysis stage, the antennae are reduced and swimming becomes a function of the pereiopods, with some assistance from the three pairs of maxillipeds. In swimming the mysis body is flexed, with the head lowered; movement is in a backward direction. In this stage, there is less tendency for the myses to be attracted to light (Treece & Yates, 1988).

Size ranges of mysis-stage based on measurements of P. japonicus.
