Female: red areas infused w. green; yellow cheek patch smaller, edged w. green.
Ssp icterotis upperparts black, each feather broadly edged green; bright yellow cheeks.
Ssp xanthogenys feathers broadly edged red; cream cheeks. Quiet. On ground, in trees.
