Micropoecilia parae!

One of my favourite fish species and genus! There are few colors, namely M.parae melanzoma red, yellow and blue.. A very interesting fish from French Guyana, South America.

Im still on the look for others Micropoecilia species such as M.picta, M.minima and the rarest M.branneri.

Micropoecilia is a very interesting strain, and is beautiful to look at.
Nice thing is that they are small, I would have kept alot more in the same-sized tank as compared to guppies.

Have you observed their behaviour ? I have heard that they are a little aggressive towards other males when they have females in there.

Yeap, you're right.. males are slightly aggressive towards the same sex, with males flaring to each other are a common sight.. they are also a jumpy and shy species..

That would be nice entertainment to see the constant flaring as a pre-mating behaviour.

nice...hahas the first look i take look like snakehead(first pic)..hahas,the 2nd pic male look deformed..or was it the photo?

xaine, yeah it's kinda amusing.. hehe..
kian john, am not sure.. got to see clearer in real fish.. but their body seems tend to have some curve somewhere, adds to the sexiness... LOL

Haha.. that female gave birth to 20 fries few days ago!
