 Feature and beavior:

Gourami are among the most popular fish in the aquarium, appreciated for their beautiful colors, adaptability to different water parameters and the ease with which they are reproduced. The Tricogaster has a very compressed body at the sides and has an ovaloid shape, has a small mouth, the dorsal and anal fins. They are oval and wide. The caudal is delta, with rounded corners. The ventral fins have become transformed into filiform and very mobile and serve both as receptors of taste and as tactile organs, in fact we can see the colisi use these extremities to touch the food before eating it or touching other fish during courtship and / or quarrels.
The livery varies from species to species and ranges from blue and red to green and brown yellow with mother-of-pearl shades. The drawing presents vertical strips or dots here also depending on the species. The most popular species are Trichogaster Chuna, Trichogaster Fasciata, Trichogaster Labiosa, Trichogaster Lalius, Trichogaster Trichopterus, Trichogaster Trichopodus, Trichogaster Pectoralis, Trichogaster Leeri.
They have an accessory respiratory organ known as the organ of the labyrinth, this organ allows the Colisa to breathe air from the surface and to absorb oxygen even in conditions of almost absence.
They are well-known for their jumping skills, so it is advisable to put them in closed tanks, too, keeping the lid closed will raise surface moisture and heat, which is very salutary for these fishes. The life expectancy of a gourami ranges from 3 to 8 years.

Fishes’s  coexistenceBanded-Gourami-Colisa-fasciata3:

They are quiet fish and live well in a community aquarium of 70/80 liters with other Asian fish that have the same needs, intra-specific relationships are less good: males struggle hard and often fight with each other if the  Aquarium is not big enough. Recommended fish for coexistence: Brachidanio and Rasbore, Corydoras, Rineloricaria, Botia Sidthimunki. Observe, of course, territorial fish such as cyclists.
The tub must be well planted and have many shelters, shelter and possibly floating plants to avoid fighting that often end with the death of the weaker, and to provide sufficient surface for nest construction. They need a good filtration system or frequent water changes because they bear little nitrites. Remember that in nature they live in stagnant water so little current and movement of water and light not too strong.

Sexual dimorphism and breeding:

Sexual dimorphism is highlighted by the fact that the male is very color full, has a vibrant livery, while the female livery is less appealing, often gray-silver, furthermore the belly is more round and the back rib of the dorsal fin is less pointed Than in the male. They are ovary fish and according to the species, they use oral incubation or lay in open waters and release floating eggs, others deposit them in the holes or put sticky eggs, and others still build a kind of nest using plant pieces or build nests of bubbles.
