Psathyrella conopilus (Fries)

Very common species in the local parks on well decayed wood chips. The setae extending from the pileus are its most distinguishing characteristic. Contemporary  molecular studies have shown that this species has a very broad range, spanning both Europe and North America.

The setae, protruding up to 180µ from the pileipellis are one of the distinguishing characteristic of this complex of species.

Spores: 13-15 x 7-7.5µ  broad apical pore

Cheilocystidia: 40-48x18-20 µ

Pileocystidia -- somewhat polymorphic.
